Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris Update 1:

Bungie has released a launch trailer ahead of Destiny 2’s first DLC expansion that’s due to release later today.

The description of the new video reads:

“Continue your Destiny 2 journey with Expansion I: Curse of Osiris. Travel to Mercury, unravel the mysteries of the most notorious Guardian in Vanguard history and battle the time-traveling Vex in new cinematic campaign missions.

“Team up and take on new Strikes, compete in new Crucible Arenas, and earn powerful new weapons and armor. Rally your Fireteam and enter the all-new Raid Lair, Eater of Worlds.”

Destiny 2’s Curse of Osiris DLC is expected to launch later today at 5 pm UK time.

Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris Start Time / Date

Ahead of the launch day, many fans believe that the game will release at 5 pm – as this would put the game’s release in line with other updates that have dropped for the game at this time (such as the Leviathan Raid and its subsequent Prestige version, too).

Developer Bungie itself has stated that the expansion will go live after a ‘period of maintenance’.

The developer states it will go live at the new weekly reset time of 5 pm (UK time) – that’s 9 am PST and noon ET.

“As announced in a previous update, Daily and Weekly Reset will be changing next Tuesday with the release of Curse of Osiris,” Bungie confirmed.

It’s fair to infer that the game will update around 5 pm from the information we have on hand.

Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris Storage Requirements

Destiny 2 will require a huge 88GB of space on the PlayStation 4 – and the bad news is you won’t be able to start pre-loading the content long enough before the suspected launch in order to get all that down.

Bungie has announced the pre-load will go live for fans at roughly 4 pm GMT on December 5. That’s 8 am PST and 11 am ET.

The download requirements on other platforms are significantly lower, but still not that much kinder on the HDD: Xbox One requires 44GB of space, and PC will need 68GB.

Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris – What players can expect

Curse of Osiris takes players to Mercury in search of legendary Guardian Osiris, as well as giving them new armor and weapons to play around with.

Some significant changes are coming to the overall game sandbox and vendor economy, too.

“Curse of Osiris is Destiny 2’s first expansion and sends you back to the stars to solve a new mystery,” reads the official description.

“The Vex is on the march, and our only hope to stop them may lie with Osiris, the notorious heretic and most powerful Warlock in the history of the Last City. On your quest to find him, you’ll meet new characters, explore new places, tackle new challenges, and earn some sweet new loot.”

The DLC will come with an increased level cap, new story missions, and a new patrol area, too.

The game is increasing the Power Cap to 330 – 335 with mods. The level cap is also rising to 25, instead of 20.Heroic Strikes are also being returned to end-game levels, though we currently don’t know what kind of loot they’ll offer.New Raid mechanics are incoming, too, in the form of Raid Lairs – these promise to be shorter and more intense Raid experiences that will ‘exist in and around’ current Raid locations.

Bungie has so far confirmed that two multiplayer maps will be added to the game, too.

Destiny 2 Curse of Osiris – Xur updates

Everyone’s favourite tentacle-faced merchant will be returning on December 12 and he’ll be seeing some upgrades, too.

As of this Friday, Xur will be selling two new items:

• Fated Engrams
Fated Engrams can be purchased for Legendary Shards, and one per week can be purchased. They’ll decrypt into Exotic Items you don’t already own and look like they’ll cost 97 Shards.

• Three of Coins
Returning from Destiny, these items will increase Exotic Item drop rates for four hours. This time, they neither stack nor expire after a boss fight. There is no limit on how many can be bought.

There are many, many more changes coming to Destiny 2, and we’ll update the site with the patch notes once they drop.
